eAudio launches this summer at libraries

What’s better than relaxing by the pool or lounging on your deck listening to a great book.

Starting the first day of summer, June 20, East Central Regional Library patrons will be able to download eAudio books from the library’s website. As with eBooks, patrons will now be able to browse the library’s collection of eAudio items from the comfort of their home 24/7. Go to the library’s webpage at www.ecrlib.org and click on the Download eBooks/eAudio Overdrive icon to get to the library’s catalog.

In order to use ECRL’s eAudio or eBook service, you must be a resident of one of the ECRL’s six counties:  Aitkin, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs or Pine County and have a valid ECRL card in good standing as well as a registered email address.

eAudios may be downloaded to an mp3 player, a mobile device and a list of other compatible devices. For a list of compatible devices visit the website www.overdrive.com/resources/drc. To listen to eAudios on most devices you will need to download Overdrive Media Console (a free utility available on the library’s Overdrive site). As with eBooks, you must have your own mp3 player, mobile device or other compatible device and know how to use it. Listening devices will not be available for checkout.

ECRL will have both adult and teen eAudios available to download. You may have up to three eAudios and eBooks checked out at one time. You will receive an email when your hold is available and will have three days to check it out.

Links to online FAQs and tutorials to solve most problems are also available online at ecrlib.overdrive.com. If you wish to recommend an eAudio for purchase that we do not own, simply email the title and author to ecregion@ecrlib.org.

Whether you’re already into the eBook craze and want to try something new, or you simply prefer listening to books, why not give eAudio a try? Visit ecrlib.overdrive.com and check out the eAudios and eBooks East Central Regional Library has to offer its patrons starting Wednesday, June 20.
