The East Central Regional Library Board of Directors approved at its May 14 meeting the acceptance of a payment of over $4,000 from Isanti County to partially cover the county’s shortfall in library funding for 2012.
Isanti County Commissioner Mike Warring reported to the Board that the money comes from donations raised by the Friends of the Cambridge Public Library and was given to Isanti County.
The Board approved the Director’s recommendation for the funds to be used to maintain current open hours, including Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Without those donations, the library would have been closed on Saturdays throughout the summer.
Although the donated funds enable the library to remain open every Saturday this summer, the reduction of total hours from 57 to 43 hours per week which began in late February 2012 will continue through the end of 2012. The reduced open hours are: Monday: noon to 8 p.m.; Tuesday: 10 a.m. to 6: p.m.; Wednesday: 10 a.m. to p.m.; Thursday: noon to 8 p.m.; Friday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
