Register now for the Home Stretch Workshop offered in Cambridge

You have the opportunity to free yourself from some of the complications and stress of buying a home by participating in a Home Stretch Workshop offered by Central Minnesota Housing Partnership.

Home Stretch is a first-time homebuyer workshop that will be held in Cambridge on Tuesday, June 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Minnco Credit Union Center. Registration is required, and participants will receive a completion certificate at the end of the day.

“There are a lot of great opportunities for homebuyers right now,” said Kelly Doss, Program Coordinator at CMHP.  “Purchasing a home is usually the largest investment an individual or family will make in their lifetime. The more educated a person is about the home buying process, the better decisions they will make regarding such an investment. A Home Stretch workshop provides the needed information a homebuyer should have before beginning the process.”

In one day you will learn about qualifying for a mortgage, financing a home, budget and credit issues, real estate, the closing process, basic home maintenance and affordable mortgage products that may be available to first-time homebuyers. Some affordable mortgage products, first-time homebuyer products, and government loans may require a buyer to receive a Home Stretch certificate.

Pre-purchase counseling is also available by appointment and is strongly suggested prior to taking Home Stretch. This is a free service to anyone who wants to speak with a certified homeownership counselor about their personal situation pertaining to buying a home.

Central Minnesota Housing Partnership, a non-profit organization providing affordable housing services to the central region of Minnesota, coordinates the Home Stretch workshop.  Community lenders, realtors, and other housing professionals volunteer their time to bring first-time homebuyers the most important and current information about the home buying process.

There is a $30 fee per household to participate in Home Stretch and registration is required. To register for the Cambridge Home Stretch workshop you can download an application at www.cmhp.net, or you may contact Kelly Doss, Program Coordinator, 320-259-0393 or kelly@cmhp.net.
