The Cambridge-Isanti Area Softball Association received a very nice feather in its cap when it was selected to host the 2012 MSF-NSF Northern Region Softball Championships Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31-Sept. 3 at Sandquist Family Park.
A load of teams will descend upon Isanti County for a full weekend of slowpitch softball. National Regional champions will be determined in Women’s C, DD-D and EE-E classes, along with a Men’s Class C bracket.
Cambridge Classic June 8-10
The summer softball tournament schedule kicks at Sandquist Park kicks off the June 8-10 weekend with the 17th annual Cambridge Softball Classic. Many of the area’s finest teams will compete in Men’s and two separate Women’s divisions, with games beginning 6 p.m. Friday night.
Next on the schedule is the annual Ed Oliver Memorial Men’s State/National Qualifier July 6-8. Teams from Classes C, DD-D and EE will be battling it out for berths for both State and National tournaments.
The weekend of July 27-29, CIASA will host the ASA District 6 Men’s Class EE Championship at Sandquist.
Then on Aug. 17-19, the Women’s Class DD State Championships come to town, with the top placers earning spots in the Labor Day tourney back at Sandquist Park.
Battle for top of C-I Men’s League
The Bulldogs added to their C-I Thursday Men’s League lead with two more victories May 24– 14-2 over Team Lundeen and 13-2 over Sons of Pitches.
That sets up a showdown of the top two teams in the league when The Bulldogs take on Patriot Lanes May 31 at 6 p.m. at Sandquist.
