Bluejacket Baseball seeded 4th for 7AAA playoffs

Cambridge-Isanti, which closed the regular season with a 13-6 record, was seeded in the No. 4 slot for this week’s Section 7AAA Baseball tourney.

The Bluejackets take on No. 6 St. Francis in their opening playoff game at home on Thursday, May 31 (4:30 p.m.). The Saints (13-8) defeated No. 11 Princeton 6-0 in the May 29 play-in game. C-I and the Saints did not meet during the regular season.

More 7AAA quarterfinal matchups are No. 12 Anoka at No. 1 Grand Rapids (15-5); No. 8 Elk River at No. 2 Andover (14-6); and No. 7 Chisago Lakes at No. 3 Forest Lake (12-8). May 31 winners will play again June 2, with the 7AAA final four running June 5-7 at Forest Lake and Chisago Lakes.

• The Bluejackets finished the regular season with a 7-6 loss in 10 innings at North Branch May 25. After errors gave the Vikings an early lead, C-I tied it at 6-6 with three runs in the top of the seventh, helped by a dropped fly in right. Ryan Miller led the offense with 3 hits and 2 RBI. Jake Johnson struck out 10 over his 5 relief innings.
