Braham’s Eng sets pole vault record at GRC Finals

The Great River Conference track & field finals were hosted May 15 at Hinckley where the Braham girls finished 5th in the final standings and the boys were 6th. The Mille Lacs girls and the Hinckley-Finlayson boys took home the team titles while closely contested by the Rush City squads.

Senior Austyn Eng had a monster day for the Bombers by racking up three 1st places. Eng set a team and conference record in the pole vault by clearing 9-05. She then held off a good challenge from Pine City’s Jahnz to win the 300-meter hurdles at 49.27. Eng also teamed with Julia Lindgren, Kayla Nickles and Jaclyn Hollenkamp to win the 4×200 relay at 1:56.0.

More top placers from the Bomber Girls: Rachel Eskuri 3rd in the 3200 (13:20), Jenna Winter 3rd in the pole vault (8-06), Hollenkamp 4th in the 200 (29.3), 4th by the 4×800 of Jessica Westman, Sammy Patterson, Eskuri and Lindgren (11:02), and Nickles 5th in the 400 (1:06).

• Senior Jacob Rajkowski again led the Bomber Boys at the GRCs with a good sprinting day. Rajkowski placed 2nd in both the 200 (23.4) and 400 (51.4), and he added a 4th place in the 100 (11.58).

Braham’s 4×200 of Marshall Sward, Bryce Lanhart, John Larson and Dillon Arispe finished in 4th place (1:42.1). Zach Dahlman added a 5th in the 400 (55.4).

The Bomber squads competed in the 5A East Subsections May 22, with top-6 placers advancing to the May 30 5A finals at St. John’s University.,
