Cambridge-Isanti finished tied with Monticello for 2nd place in Mississippi 8 Baseball after sweeping a May 17 double-header with Becker at home.
In the opener continued from an earlier rain postponement, the Bluejackets won 11-1 when Ryan Miller allowed just 3 hits and 2 walks over five innings, striking out 3. Miller also had 3 hits at the plate, driving in 3 runs. Cole Bakke, Ryan Epsen and Matt Ziebarth added 2 hits each at the top of the lineup.
Game 2 went to the Cambridge-Isanti boys 14-4 as Clayton Jennissen got the win with four strong innings, striking out 4. Bakke finished 3-for-4, with Mitch Renstrom and Kevin Johnson adding 2 singles each.
• On May 18, the Bluejackets split a double-header at Princeton, winning 8-7 and dropping a 3-0 game. Renstrom earned the win by allowing just 5 hits over four innings. Ziebarth had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Bluejackets, with Erik Quanrud adding 2 RBI.
In the opener, the Tigers’ Zack Ludwig out-dueled Bakke by allowing only 4 C-I hits. Bakke finished with 7 strikeouts while Princeton got to him for 6 hits.
The Bluejackets kept up their solid streak with a 7-5 win over visiting Duluth Denfeld May 21 in a rescheduled game.
