RR Bandits move into Eastern Minny

The Rum River Bandits amateur baseball team of Cambridge are now members of the Eastern Minny League after that affiliation and the Metro Minny realigned this winter. The Eastern Minny– also comprised of Chisago Lakes, Hinckley, Mora, Nowthen, Quamba and Princeton– remains a league strictly for Class C town teams.

Skipper Tom Koplitz has 21 players on the Bandit roster this 2012 season. The team opened with a 13-10 loss to the Metro Knights May 9– Alex Kordiak had 2 hits that night, with 2 runs scored by Josh Coleman, Mike Koplitz and Luke Mago. On May 10, Champlin dealt the Bandits a 13-3 loss even though M. Koplitz had a 3-for-4 night.

Rum River kicks into the Eastern Minny season with a May 16 game at Princeton. The Bandits travel to Anoka May 18 (7:30 p.m.) in non-league action, then they host Hinckley May 20 (2 p.m.) at Sandquist Park. May 22 the RR boys travel to East Bethel for a 7:30 p.m. game.
