Sheriff’s Office vehicle inventory stacking up miles

At the May 2 regular Isanti County Board meeting, Sheriff Russ Monson shared a detailed inventory list to keep the commissioners up to speed on the vehicles assigned to his office.

Of the 26 vehicles assigned to the office, eight have eclipsed the 120,000-mile mark, with four more ranging from 100,000 to 120,0000 miles. Two of the Ford Crown Victorias with higher miles are assigned as jail escort back-ups since a 2011 Ford Expedition was purchased for that use last year.

The newer squad vehicles range from a 2007 Chevy Tahoe for the K-9 unit to three 2011 Crown Victorias. A 2012 Dodge Charger will be added to the lineup later this year to replace a Ford Taurus which is getting scrapped out.

Also at the board meeting, Sheriff Monson’s request for $11,900 in new computer equipment for his office was approved and was in the 2012 budget.
