Congressman Chip Cravaack spoke briefly to thank veterans for their service Thursday evening, May 3, at the Student Veteran Awareness Series event sponsored by the Military Education Resource Center at Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
The free event included a BBQ picnic, Mobile Vet Center and hot air balloon rides.
“As a representative, I thank our veterans,” Cravaack said. “People look like there may be a dismal future for this great country, but when I see these young men and women, when they put on the uniform, they go overseas and they want to defend this country. I think we’re going to be OK because they still want to go out and defend this country for this great country that it is. We do have our challenges, but at the end of the day, I hope we can all learn to come together as Americans and overcome these challenges. So here today, I’m here to say thank you. Thank you to our vets, thank you for those who help our vets come home and thank you to everyone who supports our vets because you don’t realize how important that is. This generation has known a decade of war. A decade. We’ve seen young men and women that have gone oversees not once, not twice, sometimes three times. And they do it because they believe in this country and what we do. Let us never forget them. Let us always encourage them, let’s always have their back, because they have had ours.”
