Redbird All-Stars to play against St. Paul Saints in Hinckley May 12

COMMUNITY SPORTS: The St. Paul Saints will be traveling to Hinckley for a Saturday, May 12 game with the Hinckley Knights and the Eastern Minny All-Stars.  The event is a joint fundraiser for the Knights and the Eastern Minny league, the oldest established amateur baseball league in the state.

Joining a solid Knights roster to take on the Saints will be Isanti’s Kyle Johnson, Wade Reichman and Jake Maros, who are members of the 2011 State Champion Redbirds town team.  A number of players from other Eastern Minny teams have also been invited to join the Hinckley Knights as they take on one the St. Paul Saints at historic Brennan Field.

Pre-game activities include a home-run hitting contest pitting the Saints sluggers against the Knights/Eastern Minny’s best. For  the kids, Mud-donna (the Saints mascot) will be on hand to entertain and will compete against a couple of local high school mascots in an obstacle course race.  There will be plenty of prize giveaways before and during the game, as well as some special award presentations to long-time supporters of Hinckley Knights baseball.

Ruffed Grouse Society banquet May 17

The Rum River Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society will hold its 17th Annual Sportsmen’s Banquet at the Cambrige American Legionon Thursday, May 17. Reception party starts at 5:30 p.m; dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature live and silent auctions, games, drawings and door prizes, highlighted with the finest selection of quality firearms, artwork and collectables.

Individual membership and dinner tickets are $55. Family membership packages are $95 which includes two dinners. Additional family dinners are available at $30 each. Youngsters under the age of 16 who recently passed a hunter education course and/or women who have participated in a recent Outdoors Women program will receive a complimentary dinner ticket when accompanied by a paying adult. C-I Football Golf Scramble May 19

The Cambridge-Isanti Football program will host a fundraising golf scramble at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 at the Purple Hawk CC. Fees are $75/person or $300/team which includes 18 holes w/cart, steak dinner and golf gift.
