Cattle enthusiasts gathered together at the 5th Annual Minnesota Junior Spring Classic (MJSC) cattle show held at the Mower County Fairgrounds, April 13-15.
Bob May, Mineral Point, Wis., and Scott Bayer, Ringles, Wis., evaluated the 351 head of cattle and Charlie Eklund, of Cambridge, claimed the honors of Champion Charolais Female with his April 2011 heifer.
Eklund was one of 255 youth that participated in the weekend-long event. Most contestants began their weekend with a fitting, feeding, advocacy and showmanship boot camp sponsored by Purina Animal Nutrition, along with a Saturday night dinner for all participants provided by Zinpro Performance Minerals.
On Sunday, Bayer and May sorted through 252 heifers and 99 steers, before wrapping up the afternoon with showmanship divisions.
