Seat belt pledge project a success in Braham Elementary

Dear Editor:

I am writing about the recent seat belt pledge project implemented at the Braham Elementary School. This project was successfully implemented in cooperation with the Isanti County Toward Zero Deaths traffic safety program.

Seat belt usage in our area needs improving according to Minnesota Department of Public Safety data. This project was designed to remind everyone to buckle up; not only is it the law, but seat belts are most important traffic safety device in a vehicle.

I wish to take this opportunity to recognize those who made this project possible. Randy Pauly, Braham Elementary School Principal, was instrumental in initiating the project locally. Assistance from Braham Police Chief Knowles helped move the project forward as well. Funds for the incentive prizes for students were made possible through the Minnesota AAA Chapter.

For return of a signed pledge card students received a wristband with the message “Safety First….Buckle Up.”

The Isanti County TZD program wants to remind everyone to use their seat belt every time in a motor vehicle. The next statewide seat belt enforcement wave will be May 21 – June 3.

Thanks to all parents and students who help to make this project a success.
