Stringing together their best rounds in several years, the Cambridge-Isanti girls golf squad took 1st place at with a 176 the April 18 Mississippi 8 meet hosted at Monticello CC. The Bluejacket JV also placed 2nd on the course that day.
“I was very excited for the girls to get this 1st-place finish. They have been working hard for many years to improve their games, and it is just super to have them enjoy this experience,” noted C-I Coach Steve Hanson. “We have a very competitive conference, and I think we really surprised many teams at this meet. Having four scores in the 40s – led by senior Megan Hallstrom’s career-best 42– and all six scores 50 or lower is something we didn’t really expect this early in the season.”
Filling the team card for the Bluejackets along with Hallstrom were Anna Sunderman (43), Emily Sunderman (45) and Leah Schoenecker (46), with a pair of 50s shot by Megan Koester and Alyssa Rapp.
• On a beautiful April 23, the Bluejackets enjoyed a 3rd-place 396 score when the Purple Hawk Girls Invite was hosted. Eagan won the event with a 362, and C-I’s Section 7AAA partner Andover was 2nd at 368.
