Braham’s Kelsey Sorenson-Giffrow signs with Bulldogs

Sharing the podium table while Kesley Sorenson-Giffrow signed her basketball intent for the University of Minnesota-Duluth the evening of April 23 were Braham Activities Director Tim Malone and parents Julie & Chad Giffrow who thanked the community and coaches for the support their daughter received.

A gritty player and master of the clutch shot on the big stage, Braham senior Kelsey Sorenson-Giffrow will take her basketball skills to the University of Minnesota-Duluth after signing a scholarship agreement at a nice ceremony April 23 at BHS.

The Bulldogs are coming off an 18-10 season where they went 15-7 in the NSIC and reached the region playoffs. Head Coach Annette Wiles has a good cast returning next season, including Katrina and Jessica Newman of Barnum.

“There’s lots of good players on the team. I’m really excited to play with them,” said Sorenson-Giffrow before greeting the well-wishers at Monday’s ceremony. “I take a lot of pride saying I’m from Braham. All the people here offer so much support.”

KSG finished her Bomber hoops career with 1,446 points while owning six team records: Career 3-point percentage (39.0%); season 3-point pct. (39.2%); 3-pointers made in a season (69); 3-point % one game (5-for-5); Career FT pct. (77.6%); FT pct. for one season (86.3%).

Braham Activities Director and head girls basketball coach Tim Malone emceed the signing ceremony. He noted the Bombers did not lose a home game or conference game the past three seasons. Braham reached State the past four seasons, playing in the championship game in 2010 and winning it all in 2011.

“This is a celebration of the next chapter for Kelsey,” he said. “Unfortunately, I have to let her graduate and move on to play for another coach.”
