Bomber Baseball takes two-of three over week

AROUND THE DIAMOND: Braham Baseball is sitting at 3-2 this season after a busy week. On April 19, the Bombers 10-runned rival Rush City in a 12-2 victory, but the next day visiting Aitkin won the Great River battle 7-2. After an April 21 workout at the Metrodome with Grantsburg, the Bombers came back with a 17-0 victory at East Central on April 24.

Bomber Softball breaks into ‘W’ column

On April 20, Braham Softball earned its first win of the season by hammering visiting Aitkin 18-8. Sara Tomlinson gave  up 0 earned runs and was 4-for-4 at the plate, scoring 3 runs. Bella Williams was 2-for-3 with 2 walks, Nikki Bacon coaxed 5 walks, and Natalie Bacon had a huge double and made an outstanding catch to stop a rally.

On April 19, Rush City clipped Braham 10-5 despite Carley Lynch’s 4-for-4 day. Braham raised its Great River record to 2-3 by torching East Central 16-6 April 24.

Knights blank Bluejacket Softball

On April 24, visiting St. Michael-Albertville limited Cambridge-Isanti (3-5) to single hits by Katie McMann and Amanda Hanson in a 6-0 shutout. Jessica Golden, Kate Hammero and Ronnie Risch all pitched for C-I (1-3 in Mississippi 8).

Bluejacket Baseball falls to STMA

In their lone action last week after the April 21 game with Duluth Denfeld was rained out, Cambridge-Isanti Baseball fell to visiting St. Michael-Albertville 5-1 April 24, dropping its Mississippi 8 record to 2-2 (4-2 overall). Ryan Epsen led the Jackets with two hits, and Cole Bakke took the loss on the mound.

Isanti Redbirds open 2012 season May 2

The Isanti Redbirds, coming off their State championship season of 2011, open the 2012 campaign with a Wednesday, May 2 home game with Albertville (7 p.m.). The Redbirds will next host Hinckley on Sunday, May 6 (2 p.m.).
