Be a responsible neighbor

Dear Editor:

Attention Dog Walkers: Walking your dog around the city can be enjoyable for both owner and pet. However, it may not be enjoyable for those who have to pick up after your pet if you don’t. Please remember to bring something with you to pick up after your dog. It is the responsibility of the person walking the dog to clean up any feces and dispose of it in a sanitary manner whether it is on your own property, on the property of others, or on public property.

Parvovirus and giardia are diseases found in dog feces that can spread easily to other dogs, and worms can easily spread to humans. Dog feces left on the ground can contaminate nearby water sources after a rainfall. Properly disposing dog waste is an easy step in keeping the community healthy and safe. Please be a responsibly community neighbor. Thank you for your cooperation.
