C-I Track teams sweep Ayen Invite

THURSDAY SPORTS: A chilly April 19 saw both Cambridge-Isanti track & field teams win at their own Norm Ayen Invitational. The Bluejacket boys scored 162 points to hold off runner-up Chisago Lakes (113) and Duluth Denfeld (105) among the eight squads competing. The Jacket girls totaled 154 points to get past the CL Wildcats (141) and North Branch (138) in a tight battle for the trophy.

Jordan Kalk (right) had a monster day for the C-I boys by taking 1st place in the 300 hurdles, the high jump and the long jump, adding a 3rd place in the 110 hurdles.

Also posting 1st places for the Bluejacket boys were the 4×800 relay and Jeremy Ham in the discus. Patrick Jones was 2nd in the pole vault, Forrest Kalk was 2nd in the high jump, Trevor Galligan was 3rd in the 800, Alex Lyzhoft was 3rd in the 300 hurdles, Devin Mathews was 3rd in the long jump, and Clinton Treichel was 3rd in the shot put.

The Bluejacket girls also had strong showings in the windy conditions at the CIHS track complex. Emily Santiago-Holboy swept the shot and discus events. Adelle Nelson won the pole vault, and Erica Young (left) was 1st in the long jump and 200 dash. Kylie Baas and Katie Beauto were 1st and 2nd in the high jump. The C-I 4×400 also posted a 1st place.

Paige Muehlhauser finished 2nd in the 400, and Anna Nelson added a 3rd in the pole vault.



• The Braham boys and girls both placed 8th at the Ayen Invite. Jacob Rajkowski (below) again paced the Bomber boys by winning the 400 race, placed 2nd in the 200 and 3rd in the 100.

Austyn Eng was 4th in the pole vault for the Bomber girls and also placed 7th in the 300 hurdles. Rachel Eskuri added points with a 7th place in the 3200.
