Cambridge Christian School hosted the Northwest Lutheran Spelling Bee on Friday April 13. It was a big event with 61 finalists from six different area schools.

The Spelling Bee had three divisions: Grades 3-4, Grades 5-6 and Grades 7-8 Grades. Students were selected based on a written test earlier in March.

The top four scores in each category were asked to represent their schools at the Spelling Bee. Fifty percent of the each participant’s score was based on their written test. The oral component of the Spelling Bee accounted for the other fifty percent.

The Spelling Bee itself had its intense moments with the final two participants in the Grades 3-4 division competing in a lengthy spell-off.

Ribbons and certificates were awarded to each participant, as well as trophies to the top three finishers in each division. Cambridge Christian was excited to see its own Bennett Christianson win the Grades 5-6 division.

Other participating schools included St. John’s– Corcoran, Trinity Lutheran School – St. Francis, St. John Lutheran – Elk River, Crown Lutheran School – Crown and Prince of Peace Academy.
