Bluejacket Baseball out to 4-0 start

WEEKEND SPORTS SCORES: The Cambridge-Isanti baseball squad improved its 2012 record to 4-0 with two more victories last weekend. On April 12, the Bluejackets won their second Mississippi 8 game 8-2 over visiting Big Lake. On April 14, C-I hammered visiting Duluth East 10-0.

Braham Baseball 3, Ogilvie 0

The Bombers opened their defense of the Great River title by shutting out the host Lions April 13. Nick Hammond struck out 8 and allowed just 2 hits over 7 innings, plus he drove in a run.

Braham Track 4th, 5th at Ogilvie Speed

The Braham girls were 4th and the boys 5th at the April 12 Ogilvie Speed Meet which was swept by the Hinckley-Finlayson squads. Austyn Eng in the 300 hurdles and Jaclyn Hollenkamp in the 200 posted 1st places for the Bomber girls.

C-I Girls Golf 8th at Bulldog Invite

Four Bluejackets posted sub-100 rounds at the April 12 Bulldog Invite at Pebble Creek GC: Leah Schoenecker 94, Alyssa Rapp 95, Megan Hallstrom 97 and Emily Sunderman 97. The Bluejackets teamed for an 8th-place 383 at the meet won by Detroit Lakes (323).

C-I Track 1st, 2nd at home Triangular

The Bluejacket boys scored 100 points to defeat Annandale and Rogers at an April 12 home triangular rescheduled from April 10. Patrick Jones had a personal-best 13-0 to win the pole vault, and Clinton Treichel won the shot put with a 45-03 toss. Aaron Kordiak in the 200 and James Edstrom in the 3200 added wins in the running events.

The C-I girls finished 2nd to Annandale by 15 points at the triangular. Erica Young (100) and Thessa Daniels (200) posted two sprint wins. Young joined Carlynn Galeazzi, Paige Muehlhauser and Lily Porta on the 1st-place 4×400 relay.

C-I Softball drops three games

In their second Mississippi 8 game of the season April 12, the Bluejackets fell to visiting Big Lake 11-6. On Saturday, the Jackets dropped a make-shift double-header to Duluth East (12-4) and Duluth Central (4-3).

Buffalo 4, C-I Boys Tennis 3

The Bluejackets opened the Mississippi 8 season with a close loss to host Buffalo April 12. Posting wins for C-I were Marshall White and Nate Henderson in Singles, and the No. 2 Doubles set of Christian Utecht & Josh Fredlund.
