Play Inc Community Theatre of Cambridge has already started taking registrations for their three summer youth theatre programs.
The Summer Youth Theatre has been the cornerstone of the Play Inc for over eight years. Each year it has continued to grow in both popularity and quality of product. This summer promises to be no different, and your student will definitely want to be a part of it.
As usual Play Inc offers programs for each age group currently in school. For students who have completed Kindergarten through grade four, they offer the Little League Players. This year’s theme is “Dreams.” Lydia Orvis, fresh off directing “The Sound of Music,” will return to guide the youngest performers as they explore and create their own original skits. The dates for this program are June 18-29 (Monday through Friday from 12:30 to 3 p.m.).
Viva Anderson and Shannon Shogren will guide the Junior Theatre Troupe. This program, for students who have completed fifth grade through eighth grade, will present “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.”
This production is a return to one of the Junior Theatre Troupe’s most successful productions from over a decade ago. More information for this production will be available at a parent information meeting on April 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Cambridge Middle School.
For the high school students, the Yaebo Players will take one an equal challenge to last year’s “Les Miserables.” Their production of “Ragtime” will be sure to stretch every performer (completed grade 9 through 12).
“Ragtime,” directed by Aaron Knudsvig, will take on many social issues and personal conflicts all set at the turn of the century circa 1906 as a new world is dawning. Auditions will be June 1.
