When many people hear Cheaper by the Dozen they automatically think of the popular film starring Steve Martin and Hilary Duff. But for years before this loosely adapted version hit the big screen, the stage play based on the book Cheaper by the Dozen was being performed for audiences all over the world.

Under the direction of Tracy Fix, Braham Area High School students will perform in this funny, heart-warming, family-friendly production this weekend.

Frank and Ernestine, two of the older children, tell the family’s story as they reflect on life in their home and the changes to come for all of them.

The story of the Gilbreth family is set in the 1920s. Father Frank and mother Lillian are the parents of twelve.

They are also pioneers in the field of developing industrial and workplace efficiency. Their efficiency experiments often begin at home with the children involved as guinea pigs.

Seventeen-year-old Anne is not enthusiastic about this. She wants an ordinary teenaged life and is determined to have it. But there is something going on Anne doesn’t know about that will affect her life and her relationship with her father.

Join the student actors and enjoy an evening out. Performance dates are Friday, March 30, at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 31, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 1, at 2 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for seniors and students.
