She was born on Jan. 19, 1957 in Fergus Falls, Minn. to Jerome and Lois (Tomhave) Zimmerman. Brenda grew up in Fergus Falls, attending grade school and later high school through her junior year. The family moved to Cambridge in 1974 and she graduated from Cambridge High School in 1975. In 1977 Brenda began working the Cambridge State Hospital in the Human Services Department and retired from there last year at the age of 54 after working over 34 years.
She enjoyed bowling and bowled on league for a number of years. Brenda also loved her cats and dogs, and especially enjoyed taking her dogs swimming to the St. Croix River. She also enjoyed listening to music, her favorites being Neil Young, and U2.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, grandparents Dora Zimmerman, Vernon and Ella Tomhave, and her mother’s special friend Dale Offerman. She is survived by her mother Lois Zimmerman of Minneapolis, sister Mona Zimmerman of Cambridge, brother Scott Zimmerman of Minneapolis, nephew Myles Zimmerman of Cambridge, great niece Jasmine Dahl of St. Francis, as well as a number of other relatives and friends.
A rime to visit family and friends will be held Friday, March 23, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge. Arrangements are with the Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Cambridge.
