It took three games, but the Minnesota Owls eliminated Edina from the Minnesota Junior Hockey League playoffs with a 5-3 victory at Isanti March 4.
Robert Erickson got the Owls on the board in the first period, then two goals from Dallas Tucker and another by T.J. Belisle had Minnesota up 4-2 in the second. Jerid Adamson added an empty-netter across the length of the ice, and Austin Campbell turned away 36-of-39 shots.
The March 2 playoff opener saw Erickson rack up four goals in the Owls’ 6-4 win over the Lakers, with Brad Jerzewski (29 saves) getting the win in the nets. The following night, Edina extended the series by prevailing 4-3; scoring for the Owls were Belisle, Kolton Kahoot and Erickson.
The Owls open the MNJHL semifinals on the road in Rochester on Friday, March 9 at 7:05 p.m.. Game 2 will be at Isanti Saturday, March 10 (7:30 p.m.). Game 3, if necessary, will be Sunday, March 11 in Rochester (5:35 p.m.).
