Isanti Lions are cooking for the community again. This will be their third pancake breakfast where they are cooking for the general needs of the community.
As most people know, some of Lion’s main projects are sight and hearing. This all started in the early years of Lions when Helen Keller made a presentation to a Lion’s convention.
Locally, this means they give eye glasses to someone who needs them but can’t afford them. Often times it is children who need them to better learn in school. Other money goes to international efforts. An interesting project is one undertaken by the Rush City Lions; they are volunteer drivers for eye donations. When a donor gives an eye, the Rush City Lions transport it to the eye bank in the Cities.
The last breakfast the Isanti Lions had was to support the Isanti County Christmas Project. Money from the last breakfast and other donations from the community made it possible to purchase a ham for every one of the 365 families served at the Christmas Project.
This spring the Isanti Lions Pancake Breakfast will be at the Isanti Community Center, one-half block west of the railroad tracks and one-half block south of Co. Rd. 5 in Isanti.
It will be held Sunday, March 11, from 8 a.m. to noon. Cost for an adult is $6, and kids and seniors $5. Bacon will be available for an extra charge, but limited quantity is available.
