FRIDAY NIGHT SPORTS: At the Class AA Gymnastics Team finals held at the U of M Sports Pavilion, Cambridge-Isanti placed 7th out of the eight competing teams with a solid 143.0 total. Roseville edged two-time defending champ Northfield 149.325 – 149.125 to return to the top of the podium.
The Bluejackets’ best event of the evening was the Floor where they compiled 36.325 points, led by Britta Rud (9.4), Michelle Ziebarth (9.225) and Morgan Urness (9.2). Rud also led C-I with a 9.625 on the Beam, and Ziebarth stuck a 9.225 on the Vault.
C-I Girls Basketball 74, Buffalo 66 OT
The Bluejacket girls handed Buffalo its first loss on the Mississippi 8 schedule with a overtime victory Feb. 24. Whitney Olson scored 41 for Cambridge-Isanti, with more points added by Lily Porta (8), Amanda Hanson (7) and Justine Larson (7).
Buffalo, which clinched the M-8 title Tuesday night, finished 11-1 in conference games. The Bluejackets closed the regular season with an 8-4 mark in the M-8, 18-8 overall. They next will play in the March 1 Section 7AAAA quarterfinals, likely getting a home game that night.
