Sen. Franken’s staff to hold farm bill meeting in Cambridge

On Tuesday, Feb. 28, key members of U.S. Sen. Al Franken’s staff will be in Cambridge as part the  Senator’s Farm Bill Outreach Tour.

Staffers will meet with local farmers, ranchers and agriculture officials to discuss the upcoming Senate debate over the 2012 Farm Bill at Perkins Restaurant in Cambridge at 10 a.m.

Sen. Franken believes a strong farm economy is key to Minnesota’s economic vitality and that the 2012 Farm Bill will be critically important to farmers, ranchers and rural communities across the state.  He wants input from Minnesotans on the key sections of the bill.

“The Senate will begin hearings and debate on the 2012 Farm Bill in the coming weeks, and I want to hear from Minnesota farmers, ranchers and agriculture officials about this important legislation,” said Sen. Franken. “My staff will be in Cambridge to meet with local officials, farmers and farm leaders, bring them up to date on what is happening in Washington and get input and ideas about how best to ensure the farm bill works for Minnesota.”
