Due to the recent reduction in Isanti County funding, staffing at the Cambridge Public Library will be reduced and its open hours will be cut from 57 hours to 43 hours per week.
According to ECRL’s Joint Powers Agreement, if any member county approves an amount lower than its share of the approved budget, library service to that member county shall be reduced accordingly. Starting Monday, Feb. 27, the library will only be open 2 nights a week, opening later each morning and have shorter Saturday hours. Plus in the summer (May 26 thru September 1), the library will be closed on Saturdays.
Along with a loss in open hours and limited staff, the loss in funding will reduce the capacity of the Cambridge Library to sponsor many popular programs and activities such as storytimes and tours for local school classes and daycares, movies, book clubs, the annual Christmas Give the Gift of Reading project, Teens/Tweens Gaming Night, I Love to Read Activities, Hot Reads/Cold Nights program, tax assistance and more.
The new hours for the Cambridge Public Library beginning Monday, Feb. 27 will be:
Sunday – Closed
Monday – noon – 8 p.m.
Tuesday – 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Wednesday – 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Thursday – noon – 8 p.m.
Friday – 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturday – 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
*Summer hours (May 26 thru Sept. 1), the library will be closed on Saturdays.

The Friends of the Cambridge Public Library are leading a fund drive to help defray or eliminate the loss. Donations may be sent to the Friends of the Cambridge Public Library, 244 South Birch St., Cambridge, MN.
