Over 400 students from 23 different schools competed in 21 different contests. CIHS placed all 10 competitors in the top 5, and nine-of-10 placed in the top 3.
Taking home medals and equipment prizes were the following placers: ARC Welding– 1st Jake Olson, 2nd Joe Hunt; Oxyacetylene Welding– 1st Chase Carlson, 2nd Joe Pramann; Tig Welding– 1st Jimmy Zukauska, 3rd Tyler Matzer; Mig Welding– 1st Ryan Schusted; Carpentry– 1st Skye Hunt-Schuft, 2nd Vern Maslow.
Welding, carpentry, machining and cabinetmaking students will be competing at the State SkillsUSA competition in March with hopes of placing 1st and representing CHIS and Minnesota at the National SkillsUSA competition in Kansas City, Mo. in June.
