Chris Holtan, the daughter of Del and Dorcie Larson of Cambridge, recently received an Exceptional Businesswomen Award through the Dakota County Tribune based in Burnsville.
Holtan was one of 11 women selected to receive the award that was presented during a ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Best Western Premier Nicollet Inn in Burnsville.
Holtan is the co-founder and vice president of Lancet Software Development, Inc. in Burnsville. Holtan is a 1986 graduate of Cambridge High School and a 1985 Miss Cambridge Princess.
The company helps information technology professionals and business leaders define, build, manage and learn “business intelligence,” which uses computer-based techniques to identify and analyze business data.
With more than 100 clients around the globe, Lancet has become a leader in the microstrategy industry under the guidance of Holtan.
She didn’t start the company without a little life experience first. In the 1990s she held application development positions with Cargill, David Mitchell and Associates (now called Ameridata), 3M and LifeRate Systems, working her way up to management positions.
More than a decade ago, Holtan helped create Lancet from scratch, and she said she is proud of the fact that it was based on principles in which she believes. Holtan has been a Lakeville resident since 1998.
The Exceptional Businesswomen Award was sponsored by the Dakota County Technical College Foundation, Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce, Visit Lakeville Minnesota, Dakota Electric Association, Best Western Premier Nicollet Inn, Frontier and Lakeville Trophy.
