Breakfast to benefit local Boy Scouts
The Three Rivers District of the Northern Star Council, Boy Scouts of America will host its annual Community Friends of Scouting Fundraiser Breakfast Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7:29 a.m. at the Courtyards of Andover (13545 Martin Street NW, Andover).
This is the largest community fundraiser that the district holds to help raise over $27,000 to support the Scouting Programs in the Anoka and Isanti counties and the more than 2,500 youth they serve. It costs $180 annually to support one Scout in Scouting in the area.
This event provides thousands of dollars to support the programs of Northern Star Council including eight camp facilities, leadership training for volunteers and recruitment materials to invite more families into Scouting.
For more than three decades, members of the Anoka and Isanti county communities have gathered at the beginning of each year to provide their support for the Boy Scouts of America. From humble beginnings at Rum River Scout Camp in Ramsey to an annual event of more than 200 local community members and Scouting volunteers today, this event sets a high standard of support for the Scouting program in the community.
The breakfast will be emceed by James Schugel, Eagle Scout and WCCO-TV Reporter, and guest speaker will be the Co-Executive Director of the Audubon Center of the North Woods, Bryan Wood. They will also have scouts from the community sharing their stories.
