Wildcats scratch Tigers from 7AA Wrestling tourney

Chisago Lakes defeated Rush City-Braham 54-24 in the opening round of the Section 7AA Team tourney hosted at Milaca Feb. 14.

In the 7AA quarterfinal round, South No. 2 seed Mora (16-11) beat the No. 3 seed Wildcats 41-28 to advance to the semifinals. Also reaching the Section 7AA final four tourney in Nashwauk this Friday are North No. 1 Grand Rapids (17-4, South No. 1 Milaca (26-9) and South No. 3 Hibbing (13-16).

The Tigers close the season with a 3-7 dual meet record. Their next action will be the Feb. 24-25 7AA Individual Tourney at Mora.

Tigers 4th at GRC Finals

• The RC-B boys finished in 4th place at the Feb. 10 Great River Conference Finals hosted at Onamia. Johnathan Mielke at Jacob Lynch won their championship matches by fall at 182 and 195. Brady Anderson placed 2nd at 145 when Hinckley’s Zain Hunter took an 11-6 decision in the championship.

Also placing for the Tigers were Tyler Sitz (3rd at 113), Dan Johnson (3rd at 152), Logan Johnson (3rd at 170), Dylan Mielke (4th at 106), Francie Loerzel (4th at 120), Dillon Arispe (4th at 132) and Dominic Montgomery (4th at 160).
