The Cambridge-Isanti Math team finished the 2012 season in 2nd place in the Rum River Math League after the final meet was hosted at CIHS Feb. 13. St. Michael-Albertville totaled 367 points on the season to claim 1st place and the berth into the March 12 State Math League Meet; the Knights were led by three-time RRML individual champ Marshall Smith. The Bluejackets scored 235 points, followed by Chisago Lakes (211), Foley (172), Princeton (152), North Branch (131) and Mora (129). Leading C-I were individual medal earners Alex Smith (4th overall), Chris Fredlund (6th), Ryan Fredlund (7th), Sam Olson (10th) and Charlie Schafer (12th).
“It was great having a lot of first-year students out, bringing energy and a lot of pride to our program,” said C-I Math Coach Mike Sorn, who once again emceed the awards program. “I’m honored to have this many enthusiastic and skilled members out for Math League.”
