Braham Community Ed feature classes

SATURDAY MAKE-IT AND  TAKE-IT WORKSHOP

(Recommended for ages 3-10 yrs.)

Do you work all week and just don’t get the quality time you want with your child(ren)? Or do you know of another child that would benefit from some adult time with you?

If so, then they have the option for you on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Braham Area Elementary School.

They will be offering a super fun workshop filled with several make-it and take-it projects for you and your child to do together. Stations will be set up for children to choose from at their own pace. Stations include: paint a birdhouse, color a picture, build your own boat, design a funky bracelet and more. They will offer a light breakfast bar too. All children need to be supervised by an adult. Sign up early, registration is limited! Register by Feb. 16.

REAL-LIFE ROBOTICS CLASS

Learn how robots have changed the world, including some interesting history and trivia of robotics on Monday, March 12 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Braham Area High School. In this class for students in grades 2nd-5th, they will get plenty of hands-on-experience in this class by experimenting with several remote controlled robots and learning the uses of sensors and artificial intelligence.

They will learn how to program a robot by programming another student, figure out how robotic arms make modern manufacturing possible and then use your new knowledge to build an OWI robotic arm to take home. Register by Friday, March 9.

YOUTH DRIVER’S ED

The first step in driver education training is the required 30-hour classroom instruction. Students may register for this class portion if they will be age 15 by July 1, 2012. After the successful completion of this class, students can then obtain a blue card. This blue card is required when taking the state permit test.

Once you have your permit, students can register for Behind-the-Wheel with our instructor, Dennis Foerster. Dennis is a certified driving instructor and owner of John’s Driving School.

Class will be held Mon.-Fri., March 19-23, 3-6 p.m., Tues.-Fri., March 27-30, 3-6 p.m., and Sat., March 31, 9 a.m.-Noon, at the Braham Area High School. Pre-registration is required.

FIREARMS SAFETY TRAINING

Certified DNR instructors will teach this firearms safety training required by the State of Minnesota for anyone hunting wild game.

Students must be 11 yrs. old by first day of class. All students age 12 & up will receive their certification with the successful completion of attendance and coursework. Anyone still 11 yrs. after completion, will receive their certification on their 12th birthday. At the first class you must bring a photocopy of your birth certificate, and students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Parent enrollment is also encouraged and welcome.

Class size is limited and pre-registration is required by Friday, March 9. DNR registration forms will be mailed out upon registrations with Community Ed and are to be brought with you the first night of class.

Class dates are: March 19, 27, 29 & April 2, 5, 11, 16, 23, 7-9:15 p.m., at the Braham Area Elementary School Cafeteria, and Range Day is April 21, 9 a.m. to noon. First night please arrive 15 minutes early.
