Play Inc. Community Theatre of Cambridge is ready with its production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music. Performances of Sound of Music will be held Feb. 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 12 at 3 p.m.
The beloved show tells the story of Maria Rainer a nun who is sent to be a nanny for Captain Von Trapp’s seven children.
While living with the family Maria must learn where her heart truly is: serving God as a nun or finding love with Captain Von Trapp. The story takes place in the mountains of Austria with the World War II Nazi occupation looming, and it features classic songs like “The Sound of Music,” “My Favorite Things,” “Climb Every Mountain,” and many more.
The cast is headlined by Maria Muehlhauser taking on the role of Maria, and Tim Truebenbach playing Captain Von Trapp.
Other area adults include Shannon Shogren playing the Mother Abbess, Leah Volker, Lisa Bonine, and Jill Johnson as three of the featured nuns, Viva Anderson and Paul Skogerson as the Baron and Baronness, and Steve Farquharson as Max Detweiller—along with many others.
The kids are played by Sydney Johnson as Liesl, Adam Peterson as Friedrich, Elizabeth Poppen as Louisa, Hans Boyum as Kurt, Lacey Johnson as Brigitta, Sophie Nienow as Marta and Jenna Kirkeide as Gretl. Jon Wells will play Rolf, Leisl’s crush. For a full cast list visit www.playinconline.org.
