Bluejackets swim to two wins

Closing out the regular season in style, the Cambridge-Isanti boys swim & dive squad won their final two dual meets to raise their overall dual mark to 6-4 (21-9 including invites). The team is now tapering for its next action– the Feb. 23-25 Section 7AA meet.

The Bluejackets finished at 2-2 in Mississippi Duals by defeating visiting Princeton 104-72 Feb. 2. Posting wins for C-I were Kyle McCormick (200 Free), Matt Taray (200 IM), Calvin Cicha (100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke), Benj Nault-Maurer (100 Free), Peter Edblad (500 Free), John Solberg (100 Backstroke), along with sweeps in all three relays.

On Feb. 6, the C-I boys defeated section-mate Blaine at home 100-86. Grant McCormick won the 100 Butterfly and was 2nd in the 200 Free. Other notable results: K. McCormick 2nd in the 50 Free, Parker Brown 2nd in Diving, Nault-Maurer 1st in the 500 Free and 100 Backstroke, and Cicha 1st in the 100 Breaststroke.

Jackets 4th at Elks Junior meet

C-I’s 7th-9th grade members placed 4th at the Junior Elks Invite on Saturday, with Anoka taking the top spot among the eight teams. Leading placers for the Bluejackets were John Solberg (2nd in 100 Free/2nd in 100 Backstroke), Cody Hemmelgarn (3rd in Diving), Peter Edblad (4th in 200 Free) and Josh Minnihan (4th in 100 Fly).
