C-I Boys Hockey earns first M-8 win
Cambridge-Isanti boys hockey picked up its first Mississippi 8 win of the season by downing host Monticello-Annandale-Maple Lake 6-3 Jan. 26. The Bluejackets spread the love with six different players netting goals against the Moose.
Down 1-0 in the first, Colton Miller got the Jackets’ first goal. Elliott Simon, Ryan Epsen, Jordan Locken and Brennan Osen all beat the Moose goalie in the second period for a 5-3 Jacket lead. Kurtis Grimm’s power-play goal in the third kept the Moose at bay. Jared Knutson was called on for just 12 saves in the victory.
Rogers 5, Bluejackets 3
M-8 leader Rogers swept the season series with the C-I boys by taking the home matinee game on Saturday. The Bluejackets led 3-0 on early second-period goals from Osen, Miller and Locken, but the Royals responded with four goals before the period ended.
Northern Lakes 5, Jackets 1
Northern Lakes out of Pequot Lakes hung a non-conference loss on the Jackets Jan. 31. Locken’s power-play goal had the Jackets tied at 1-1 in the first period, but the Lightening scored two goals in the ensuing two periods.
