Freshman Britta Rud returned from injury to lead the young Bluejackets with a 9.65 on the Floor, 9.275 on the Vault and a 9.225 on the Beam for a career-best 36.925 All-Around total. Morgan Urness (9.2) and Michelle Ziebarth (9.1) added big scores on the Floor, with Hannah Haight (8.825) leading on the Bars. Urness also scored an 8.975 on the Beam. Big Lake’s Laura Jore led the meet with a 37.0 AA total.

• On Saturday, the Bluejackets placed 7th with 139.725 points at the stacked Lakeville North Invite won by Class AA leader Northfield. The Jackets out-pointed M-8 rival Becker (138.8) and Section 7AA rival St. Francis (134.7) at the meet.

“The girls have regained some confidence after initially being shaken by a lot of injuries,” said C-I Coach Wendy Rooney. “We are currently as full strength as we can be for the remainder of the season. The girls are getting tougher and are still working on handling pressure at the big meets.”

Rud again led the way with a 9.35 on the Floor and a 35.5 All-Around compilation. Haight scored a team-high 9.175 on the Bars, Ziebarth led on the Vault with an 8.8, and Tayla Fletcher scored a Jacket-best 8.85 on the Beam.

Morgan Urness, one of the several young members of the Jacket varsity, worked for an 8.75 score on the Floor at Saturday’s Lakeville North Invite.

The Jacket JV showed its depth by winning their half of Lakeville meet with a 133.05 total. The C-I girls get a home meet against Buffalo Jan. 19 before heading to the St. Francis Triangular on Monday, Jan. 23.

“In the upcoming meets we want to be able to solidify the varsity line-up so they can properly prepare for Sections.  There are still a number of positions up for grabs, and we need to see who will step up and show consistency in both practice and the meets,” analyzed Coach Rooney.
