C-I Hoops Boosters Pancake Breakfast Jan. 29

The Cambridge-Isanti Hoops Boosters will host a Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29 at the Christ the King Catholic Parish Hall in Cambridge (315 N. Fern St.). A silent auction will also be held at the event. Meal tickets are $6, with children 5-under free with paying adult.

C-I Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest Jan. 29

The Cambridge Knights of Columbus will be holding its annual free throw contest at the Cambridge-Isanti High School gym on Sunday, Jan. 29, Registration begins at 1:30 p.m., with the free throw contest starting at 2 p.m. All boys and girls, ages 10-14 years (eligibility as of Jan. 1) are welcome to compete. Braham Community Education has several Winter/Spring courses with registration due soon (brochure has been mailed to Braham residents). Refresher course Feb. 7 to renew 10% three-year car insurance discount; Indoor Volleyball for ages 16 and up on Wednesdays, Feb. 1 – April 4 from 6:30-8 p.m.

Cambridge Campus Candlelight Ski

Anoka-Ramsey Community College is hosting its annual Candlelight Ski on Saturday, Feb. 4, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Cambridge Campus. The public is invited to this free event to join college faculty, staff and students for an evening of skiing or hiking along two miles of candlelit trails near the Rum River.

Skiing begins at the Campus Center on the east side of Co. Rd. 70. The trails are part of the Spirit River Nature Area’s cross country ski trails that wander through the Cambridge Campus and the City of Cambridge. People can bring their own skis or rent them. Ski rental and pick-up is available at Outdoor Edge in Cambridge (763-552-3343). Festivities include hot chocolate and refreshments, along with entertainment by Ken Krona and Lyle Swedeen 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and door prizes at 7:30 p.m.

C-I Competitive Baseball annual meeting Feb. 9

The general meeting for the membership of Cambridge-Isanti Competitive Baseball Association and any members of the public interested in youth baseball will be held on Feb. 9 at the Cambridge Intermediate School Little Theater. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the upcoming season, structure, and elect new board members. If you are interested in helping out on the board, please submit an introduction letter complete with qualifications to cicompbaseball@gmail.com.

2nd Annual Military Appreciation Night – Isanti County Civic Ice Arena

Saturday, February 11th:  In conjunction with the Cambridge Isanti Bluejacket Boys Hockey varsity game at 7 p.m., the Isanti Civic Ice Arena would like to show appreciation for the area’s military veterans, both active and retired.  The local color guard will perform the pregame honors and various local and regional military veteran service organizations will be present as well.  All are encouraged to come and enjoy the fellowship while supporting the CIHS Bluejacket Boys hockey team for their Senior Night competition against St. Michael.  JV game starts at 5:15 pm./Varsity game starts at 7:00 pm.

All veterans with a valid active, guard/reserve,  or retired military ID will be admitted free of charge to both games.  Cake and coffee will be served.  The Isanti Ice Arena is located at 600 1st Ave N. in Isanti, MN.

Adoptive/Blended Family Swim time at CIHS Pool

A special swim day for local adoptive and blended families will be hosted at the Cambridge-Isanti High School pool on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 3 – 5 p.m. No pre-registration is needed as any blended or adoptive family is invited for this fun time in the pool to share and meet other kids and parents. Parents, grandparents and friends can watch from the balcony or join the kids in the water.  Lifeguards and WSI teaching staff will be on duty for safety. Sponsored by District 911 Community Ed in conjunction with the Children’s Shelter of Cebu, Philippines.

Isanti County MDHA Chapter Banquet Feb. 18

The annual banquet for the Isanti County Chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association (MDHA) is Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Cambridge American Legion Club (5 p.m. social/7 p.m. dinner). The $35 tickets includes annual membership. For ticket information, call John Erlandson Jr. at 763-689-4992. Tickets, which include MDHA membership and dinner, are $35.

2012 State BMX finals will be hosted at Rum River BMX

The Rum River BMX Association is proud to announce that Rum River BMX of Isanti was awarded the honor of hosting the 2012 Minnesota State BMX Finals, held each year at the end of August. Each year, tracks throughout the United States are awarded points by USABMX based on the number of riders at each track. Rum River BMX earned the honor of being ranked 5th out of all tracks in the U.S. Weekly racing and practices take place at the track from early May through mid-October.
