C-I Swim team 3rd at Packer Invite

WEEKEND SPORTS SCORES: For the second straight Saturday, the Cambridge-Isanti boys swim & dive team finished 3rd at an invitational after scoring 270 points at the Jan. 14 Packer Invite hosted at South St. Paul. Hastings (403) and Benilde-St. Margaret’s (282) placed ahead of the Bluejackets out of the 10 teams competing.

C-I Gymnasts 7th at Lakeville North Invite

Cambridge-Isanti totaled 139.7 points to place 7th at the Jan. 14 Lakeville North Invite won by Northfield. C-I’s Britta Rud scored 9.35 on the Floor, and Hannah Haights hit for a 9.175 on the Bars. The Jacket JV won their half of the invite, bettering 11 other teams with a 133.05 total.

Jacket Wrestlers 5th at Kiffmeyer Duals

At Saturday’s Kiffmeyer Duals hosted at St. Cloud Tech, Hastings tipped Cambridge-Isanti 32-26 in the opening round, with the difference essentially coming down to one pin and a couple major decisions. The Bluejackets (14-3) rebounded to win the consolation title by handling Sauk Rapids 51-18 and St. Cloud Apollo 56-22. Bluejackets going 3-0 in the tourney were Ty Torgerson (145) and Jon Knowlton (285).

The Bluejacket JV won their tourney at the Kiffmeyers, going 3-0 and defeating Foley 35-25 in the finals.

Buffalo 6, C-I Boys Hockey 3

Hosting the Mississippi battle on Jan. 14, the Bluejackets (4-11) scored first when Preston Simon lit the lamp late in the first period. But the Bison rode home with the victory by scoring four times in the third period.

Hutchinson 10, CIMPC Girls Hockey 5

The visiting Tigers won the nightcap of the Jan. 14 high school double-header at the Johnson Arena in the Isanti, rolling to a non-conference win over the Bluejackets (7-10-1).

Braham Girls Basketball 88, East Central 23

The Bombers stayed atop the Great River Conference at 7-0 with a dominant win over the visiting Eagles. Braham (13-1) next hosts Rush City Jan. 17 who also is undefeated in GRC action.
