Jacket Girls Hoops defeat north metro squads

The Cambridge-Isanti girls got back on track with a pair of victories over two metro squads. On Jan. 9, the Bluejackets defeated host Coon Rapids 68-54.

Whitney Olson made 11-of-14 free throws and sunk 3 three-pointers to lead the Jackets with 26 points. Brynn Liljander (14 points/6 rebounds), Natalie Larson (10 points/8 rebounds) and Paige Muehlhauser (8 points/4 rebounds) also played big in the non-conference win.

In a home matinee game on Saturday, the C-I girls had their top offensive output of the season in a 92-57 win over Tartan. Leading scorers were Olson (26), Liljander (22), Muehlhauser (13), Amanda Hanson (11), and Larson (8) as the Jackets shot 54 percent from the field. Muehlhauser also grabbed 6 rebounds.

Monticello 72, C-I 58

The host Magic stung the Bluejackets for 45 points in the second half to earn their first Mississippi 8 win of the season Jan. 5. Leading the C-I girls were Larson (15 pts/10 rebounds) and Hanson (13 pts/5 rebounds).

The Magic posted their first win of the season after outscoring the visiting Bluejackets 31-22 in the second half. Tom Selz led the Jackets with 15 points. Jordan Schleicher added 10 points and 9 rebounds, and Hunter Vavra worked for 10 points and 6 rebounds.

• On Jan. 10, host Duluth Denfeld defeated the Bluejacket boys 92-70.
