It takes a community and the community responds

Dear Editor:

On Friday, January 20, 2012, the Cambridge Campus Foundation is holding its signature fundraiser, Scholardazzle, at Spectacular Events Banquet Center, Isanti.

A large part of the money raised at this fundraiser is through sponsorships and donated live and silent auction items. I have been a part of going out for solicitations from local businesses, area companies, and individuals. I know businesses and individuals up and down Main Street are often asked for donations, we hesitate in our asking, but Main Streets Cambridge and Isanti have been so generous. They are not only generous when we ask, but are supportive and gracious. It is not just the downtown merchants that contribute but those along Highways 95 and 65, and in the Industrial Parks. I truly feel it is important to publicly say a huge Thank You before the event, for the kind generosity!

Scholardazzle raises money to give away. Through the donations and sponsorships, the money raised goes to students attending ARCC Cambridge Campus. It is a fun evening of good food, entertainment, games, auctions, and most important, hearing the stories of how scholarships have touched the lives of students. When I first heard from scholarship recipients, the most profound comments were not only the gratitude they had about the money but the support they felt that someone had faith in them to make their life better.  When I think about that, I wonder if they realize all the people, businesses, and companies, which shown faith by their generous contributions.  The community is truly supporting a future of student achievement.

There are three levels of sponsorships, $250, $500 and $1,000.  Silent and live auction items are big and small. Whether it is a $1,000 Diamond Sponsorship or a gift certificate for food at a local eating establishment, the money generated all goes to saying we believe in the students that go to ARCC Cambridge Campus.

If Scholardazzle isn’t on your calendar I urge you to circle Friday, January 20, 2012, call the college 763-433-1968, and get a ticket, $55 or 2 for $100 (partially tax deductible) and come for a fun filled evening. An evening where the more the Cambridge Campus Foundation makes the more it can happily give away!
