C-I swims to 3rd at Panther Invite

Getting into the meat of its winter season, the Cambridge-Isanti boys swim & dive team tied for 3rd place at the Jan. 7 Panther Invite hosted at Spring Lake Park. C-I’s Mississippi 8 partner Monticello held off Elk River to win the meet title.

The Bluejackets had several top-10 performances to help them to a tie with the host Panthers. Calvin Cicha led the way by winning the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:04.4, and he also placed 4th in the 200 Individual Medley at 2:11.6. Parker Brown had a very strong day in Diving while placing 2nd at 321.1 points.

The Bluejackets opened the Mississippi 8 Conference season 1-0 by defeating the host Bison Jan. 5. Posting 1st places for Cambridge-Isanti were Calvin Cicha (200 IM and 100 Breaststroke), Parker Brown (Diving), the 200 Free Relay (Cicha, K.McCormick, G.McCormick, Codner) and the win-clinching 400 Free Relay (K.McCormick, G.McCormick, Codner, Nault-Maurer).

• On Jan. 10, host Andover defeated C-I 100-85 in a non-conference dual meet.
