Elaine Elvina Jensen was born March 24, 1934 in Round Prairie, Minn., to Elvin and Anna (Slinger) Sanders. The family moved to Barnsville where she graduated from Barnsville High School, Class of 1952. On Sept. 20, 1957 she married Gordon Jensen and they made their first home in Rochester. They later moved to Roseville and then to Columbia Heights where they lived many years. Elaine moved to Isanti five and a half years ago. She became a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti. Elaine enjoyed coming back to a small town. She belonged to the Red Hat Ladies and was an active volunteer for several activities and senior dining. Elaine loved going to her lake cabin, sewing for the kids and making quilts and afghans.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon in 1989 and one grandson. Elaine is survived by five children, Barbara Eggert of Ham Lake, Sandra West of Coon Rapids, Scott Jensen of Brooklyn Park, David Jensen of Crystal, Daniel (Dawn) Jensen of Ham Lake; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Joann) Sanders of Wadena; by her dog, Missy; and by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held January 3, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Clifton Hanson officiating. Shirley Olson served as organist. The pallbearers were Jessica Sathre, April Brynteson, Michael West, Joey Jensen, Kimberly Eggert, Brandon Eggert, Erin Jensen and Adam Jensen. Interment was in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel.
