A partnership agreement between the city of Isanti, the East Central Regional Library Board and the Isanti Area Friends of the Library was approved to keep the Isanti Library Link Site open through 2012.

During the Isanti City Council meeting Tuesday, Dec. 20, Barbara Misselt, executive director of the East Central Regional Library, was on hand to talk about how the Isanti Link Site has been going since it opened in the fall of 2009 in Isanti City Hall.

Misselt said services have more than doubled since the link site opened. The site offers a wide variety of cirulation materials, issues library cards, offers preschool storytime, and was able to bring a guest magician to the Isanti Community Center this past summer.

Statistics showed that between January through November 2011, 10,741 items were circulated from the link site, and 2,569 patrons visited the site. An average of 200 to 300 patrons visit the site each month which is open once a week on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Outreach Librarian Lisa Kosin, who is in charge of the Isanti Link Site, said most of the patrons who use the Isanti Link Site are from Isanti, and the site continually issues library cards to new users of the library.

Isanti Mayor George Wimmer said he has not heard one complaint regarding the link site, and feels the partnership between the city and the library is going well.

Isanti Council Member Sue Larson said the Isanti Area Friends of the Library are working hard to continue to market the link site.

She noted they are at a lot of community events reading to children, and providing informational materials about the library and link site.
