OT win for C-I Girls Hockey over rival Tigers

At the Mora Arena on Dec. 20, the Cambridge-Isanti-Mora-Pine City girls continued their rivalry with Princeton. The game was sent into overtime, with the Bluejackets coming away with a 3-2 victory when Holly Guerin scored at the 5:40 mark.

Jessie Morrison set up Guerin with with an outstanding effort down low, controlling the puck and finding Guerin with a nice reverse spin pass. Bluejacket goalie Jessi Benson got her first varsity win by making 25 saves, including three tough ones in OT.

Kristin Eustice got the game’s first goal with a nice wrist shot 2:25 into action. Still in the first period, lex Nelson followed that by gaining control of the puck in the neutral zone, breaking in on net and picking the upper corner. The Tigers, skating just nine players, fought back with a goal late in the first period and the lone goal in the second.
