Local artist wins Christmas card design contest

Claire Fix has winning entry in national “Holiday Art Search”

This is the third time Claire Fix has had a winning entry in the national “Holiday Art Search” competition put on by the “American Diabetes Association.”

Her original acrylic painting “Peppermint tree” will be printed into cards and featured in their “Gift of Hope” catalog and websites. The cards have to be painted by a person with diabetes or dedicated to a person with diabetes.

Claire has several family members with diabetes, and this year she dedicated her card to her husband Rich Fix. Claire has been submitting art to the competition for about 15 years before she had her first winning entry. Only around 14 designs are chosen out of some 300 entrees each year. Her previous winning entrees have earned over $20,000 for the fight against diabetes. Every penny of donations and profit goes directly to diabetes research.

Claire hopes you will join her to help eliminate this disease. “Peppermint tree” cards can be purchased at www.diabetes.org/giftofhope, and her previous cards are on sale at www.shopdiabetes.org. Call for a free catalog at 1-800-608-4279.
