Laurel “Chip” Allen Nordeen

Laurel “Chip” Allen Nordeen, 79, of Braham, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 at his home.

Laurel was born Oct. 17, 1932 to parents Paul Adolph and Myrtle Elizabeth (Soderbeck) Nordeen in West Rock, Pine County, Minnesota. The ninth of ten children, Chip attended Clint Country School and then graduated from the Braham High School. Chip took over the family farm, raising dairy cattle and crops.

In 1972, Chip was united to marriage to Viola May Henning at Rush Point, Minnesota. As well as farming, Chip worked as an electrician for Odmark Electric in Cambridge for many years before retiring. Chip loved to spend time fishing, especially with his wife May. He also enjoyed mechanics; fixing vehicles, and equipment on the farm.

Laurel is preceded in death by his parents, siblings John, Evelyn, Kermit, Marjorie, Merle, and Phyllis.

He is survived by his wife Viola May of Mora; brothers Duane Nordeen of Chicago, and Jim (Carole) Nordeen of Cambridge; sister Elaine (Jerry) Stoeckel of Minneapolis; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

At Chip’s request no services will be held at this time. Arrangements are with the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham.

    I got to know Chip when he worked for Odmark Electric. He did a lot of small projects we had going on around the Cambridge schools. He was always friendly, easy to deal with and a hard worker. We will remember you Chip. RIP.
