The young Cambridge-Isanti gymnasts posted 12 personal-best scores while totaling 140.95 points, good for 5th place at the Dec. 10 St. Cloud Apollo Invite. Roseville (147.2) and St. Cloud Tech (146.4) placed 1st and 2nd at the meet– two teams C-I Coach Wendy Rooney foresees as top contenders for the Class AA title this season.
The Bluejacket’ best team event was the Floor where Emily Stewart tied for 1st with a 9.65, Morgan Urness worked for a 9.1 and both Tayla Fletcher and Britta Rud scored 9.05s. The Jackets’ were 3rd on the Beam, paced by a 9.1 from Jessica Christenson and 8.8s from Rud and Fletcher.
Stewart finished 3rd in All-Around scoring at the meet with a 37.2 total, adding a 2nd-place 9.5 on the Vault and a 3rd-place 9.45 on the Bars. Michelle Ziebarth had the Jackets’ next-best score on the Bars (8.65).
Tech’s Mariah Miller (38.35) and Detroit Lakes’ Jessica Stelter (37.5) finished 1st and 2nd in AA scoring. The Jackets head back to St. Cloud this Saturday for Tech’s invite.
