New facility features indoor motor room, play village

A large indoor motor room and a play village are just some of the new features inside Krayola Kids Child Care Center’s new facility.
The new facility opened Nov. 21 and has the space and resources to provide care to 106 children ages six weeks to 12 years.
“We love providing a positive place for kids to come and learn and grow,” Director Tammy Christenson said.
Christenson opened Krayola Kids in Isanti four years ago. When the old building, which could house 78 children, reached its capacity, she decided to expand by building a new, larger facility.
In the new location, there are now two infant rooms — one for older and one for younger infants. There’s also a toddler program, a pre-school program that prepares kids for kindergarten, and a school-age program.
The building has a secured front entry and cameras throughout the rooms, which parents can access by logging in from work or home to watch live camera feed during the day.
“We love serving the community with friendly staff and environment,” Assistant Director Kellie Marshall said. “It’s fun to watch them grow. The babies that were starting at the old facility are now going into kindergarten, so it’s nice to watch them develop.”
There’s a fenced outdoor playground, but the large motor room provides an open space with toys — balls, hula hoops and more — for kids to play inside during the winter. Next to the motor room is the play village, complete with a uniform shop, post office, construction zone, grocery store and library.
“We just want to make sure parents feel secure and we’re teaching the children and everything’s safe,” Christenson said. “We want them to be happy with the progress they’re seeing with their children.”
